Southeast Montgomery County is acreage country — long driveways, wooded lots measured in acres instead of feet, and trees that have never once been pruned because for forty years nothing was under them. Then a shop goes up, or a home site gets cleared by the builder, and suddenly a dozen big pines stand at the edge of something valuable.

Grangerland work is edge work: taking down the storm-cracked pine at the driveway gate, cleaning the dead crowns out of the treeline behind a new metal building, grinding the stumps the site crew left behind. Acreage owners usually batch it — several trees and stumps in one mobilization — and that’s genuinely the cheapest way to buy this work; the crew and equipment are already there.
